Shamim Shahan
Shamim Shahan was born on 16 October 1968 in Sylhet, Bangladesh. He started writing fiction and poetry in the late 1980s. His literary career began in full swing in the 1990s. Among the many literary magazines he has edited at home and abroad, he edits the award-winning literary magazine, the ‘Gronthee little-mag,’ a magazine that has been promoting new and talented voices for the last 30 years. In 1993, he edited a poetry anthology called ‘Projonmer Setu-Bondhon’ (The Bridge of Generations) with verses by poets of Sylhet.
In 1998, he received the Little Mag Award for two Bengals, one from West Bengal in India and the other from Bangladesh. He received the Lyric Award in 2000. Mr. Shahan received the Honorary Award 2022 from the Radharaman Society from Leeds in the UK.
Under the leadership of Shamim Shahan, the ‘Gronthee literary conference’ was organized at Shahjalal University in Sylhet, Bangladesh, on 13 March 2020. From June to December 2020, he organized a virtual program called 'A Hundred Poets Around the World for Love.’ In January 2023, he edited an anthology by the same title in which poems of a hundred poets from all over the world have been featured.
