Sayeeda Leghari
Sayeeda Leghari was born and raised in Karachi to a renowned industrialist family. She attended St. Joseph’s Convent in Karachi and college in Switzerland. She got an MBA (University of Richmond, UK) in 1986 before becoming the Chief Executive Officer at Pakistan Pipes and Construction (Pvt.) Limited (1986 to 1999). She then ventured into the garment retail and export business (1999 - 2011).
After buying enough shares in 2013, Sayeeda became Chairperson and Chief Executive Officer of Sukkur Beverages Limited (SBL) - A Pepsi-Cola International Franchise. Since the last ten years, the company’s transformation has been an unprecedented success in organizational growth and in raising the market share from 38% to 70%. Sayeeda is the only female bottler in the Pepsi Co. system. She introduced the Gen2Green water treatment plant, Pakistan's first and best of its kind. Sayeeda installed high-speed Krones filling lines and a blow mold machine that is self-sufficient for Pet Production. She built state-of-the-art infrastructure, fireproofing, and automated electrical control systems. She installed a new canning plant, the third in Pepsi Co. Pakistan.
Her non-profit work includes:
National Institute of Child Health (NICH) Karachi: Executive Board member for over 20 years, and Public Relations Secretary (an elected post).
Education Department, Government of Sindh: Member Steering Committee & Screening Committee.
She has adopted five government schools in Karachi with a total of 5000 students and two schools in Sukkur with 1500 students.
Sayeeda is also an award-winning author. Her book ‘Pakistan Heritage Cuisine – A Food Story’ explores how a country's cuisine is intricately woven into its fabric and is shaped by the history and characteristics of the region and its people. The book has received critical acclaim nationally and internationally and has been a bestseller in Pakistan. It’s been launched at the Karachi and Jaipur Literature Festivals.
